Thirst-day: Beer of The Week {7}

I love a good stout and this week, I tried a new one that has so many wonderful things that I love all mixed into one!

Dogfish Chicory Stout {}Dogfish Head Chicory Stout has a smooth, rich dark stout flavor with a wonderful combination of chicory, Mexican coffee, St. John’s Wort, and licorice root.

Ok. So let me break this down for you:

*Chicory- a plant that is used for all sorts of ailments (including intestinal parasites) and is commonly used (or at least this is how I know it) either combined with coffee or as a coffee substitute. (I am from New Orleans originally and this was very popular there.)

*Coffee- delicious

*St. John’s Wort- used to treat depression

*Licorice Root- used for many ailments including baldness, menopause, and body odor

So, what do you get when you combine all these wonderful herbal remedies in a beer?

Pure stout deliciousness! I really enjoyed this beer and it went very well with a small bowl of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Happy Thirst-day!
