I LOVE strawberries and one of my favorite desserts to make with strawberries is  strawberry shortcake. I don’t care so much for the cakey version of shortcake though and found a really simple and delicious recipe for “classic” strawberry shortcake using Bisquick. It is one of my family’s favorites and little Moore loves to eat just the shortcake all by itself!

Before you start making the shortcakes. you want to mix the sliced strawberries and sugar in a bowl and set aside.

Add the baking mix, milk, sugar, and melted butter to a medium bowl and mix together until a soft dough forms.

Place six spoonfuls of dough on a greased or parchment lined baking sheet and bake in the oven until lightly browned.

Make the whipped cream while the shortcakes are baking so you can serve them while they are still warm. Or you can cheat and just use store-bought whipped cream.

Serve the shortcakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream.

This recipe is also really great for making scones. Just add whatever berries or additions you want in before spooning the dough. You may have to add a bit more milk to make up for the extra ingredients.
